DIY Bridal Makeup
There’s no shame in it! If you wear makeup every day and are proficient with it (read: you don’t have lipstick on your teeth, wobbly eyeliner, or lines on your chin) then it’s actually kind of a good idea.
Think about it – YOU know what looks good and what doesn’t with your coloring and on your own features. You should look like an enhanced version of yourself on the big day, not someone who just tried red lipstick and bronzer for the very first time.
Here are 3 drugstore essentials (4 if you’re blonde) that will be a big help in doing your own face:
Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Foundation, $13
It’s like airbrushing your skin! Don’t be too heavy-handed though or it will appear cakey.
Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush, $6
Cream blush is easy to blend, long-wear, and won’t dust off onto your dress.
Covergirl Outlast All Day Lipcolor, $9
The name pretty much says it all! You won’t have to worry about faded lips and re-applying all night.
And, for the blondies (like me!):
Maybelline Expert Eyes Brow Pencil, $4
If you have light hair/brows you must, MUST darken them with a brow pencil or your face will look completely washed out. This pencil comes in ‘blonde’ which is helpful in preventing you from coloring them in too dark.
A few pointers, if I may:
1. Practice, practice, practice! Even if you apply makeup every day you’ll want to perfect your “wedding face”.
2. You don’t want to look like a Tammy Faye Baker-bride but remember you’re being photographed, which may require a little more color/makeup than you think in order to show up well.
And if you really don’t know what you’re doing – hire a professional!
