Upgrade to a Bride's Maid!

Let It Rain On Your Parade

{Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.}

Most brides, I think, would not hope for rain on their wedding day. But what if it does rain?  If your wedding or reception is outside then it might ruin – uh, ‘alter’ – a lot of your plans but this is my advice for you: No matter what you lose money on because of the rain, don’t lose money on your pictures! Don’t cry (too much) over it and end up with red eyes on your day, and absolutely let your photographer take advantage of the weather.  Rain, dark clouds, water, and cool umbrellas can definitely give you an edge.  Here is some proof:

And what, you may ask, gives me any right to talk on the subject? Well…. I got married in a hurricane.  Yep, a hurricane.  It made landfall Friday night and rained as if the world would end right up until fifteen minutes before I walked down the aisle. Cocktail hour outside by the pool? Nope.  Flooded tent area with muddy ground? Yep.  But this was the end result:

We were happy…. and married.

  1. Right after my sunset reception it started to drizzle and after cocktail hour right when everyone was in the ballroom…it poured chicken, rice, and beans. Seriously! We were in Puerto Rico…BUT in the Latin culture when it rains on your day…it’s an amazing blessing. Time will tell…xoxo

    • Yes, that’s what I heard all day too – that it meant good luck, lots of money, and fertility! You’re right, time will tell…. 🙂

  2. Totally adorable photos. I couldn’t agree more about the rain – there was a tornado the day I got married!

    • Oh no! Did it affect a lot of your wedding elements? I don’t know what I would’ve done with a tornado – our tent would have blown away!
